Tuesday, May 12, 2026 : Exploring The Therapeutic Power of Plants : Valley Gardens Community Club, 218 Antrim Rd. 7 PM. Guest Speaker: Melissa Scouten
Melissa Scouten is a Horticultural Therapy Practitioner and she works as an Education Coordinater at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory. She also delivers a Living Well Program at The Leaf. Melissa will provide us with an informative talk regarding the therapeutic power of plants. We will learn something new and interesting.
At the end of the meeting there will be an auction of Reclaimed Garden Items. Opportunity to get a good deal. Rain Barrel and Potting Bench. Delivery to your house included.


Wednesday, May 27, 2026 : Annual Plant Sale : Holy Eucharist Parish Centre, 460 Munroe Avenue 6 pM
Our annual plant sale will be full of perenial plants dug up by our members. In addition there will be Canna plants and vegetables started by our members. Many more surprising plants. A limited amount of bags of soil will be available. Wonderful raffle prizes and more. Don’t miss it.
Tuesday, June 9, 2026 : Organic Vegetable Gardening : Valley Gardens Community Club, 218 Antrim Rd. – 7 PM. Guest Speaker: Graham Hnatiuk
Graham Hnatiuk is an ecologist at the Hnatiuk Market Garden, 3850 Mowat Rd. East St. Paul. He has implemented a No-Till Method on the farm. The farm does not use any synthetic chemical herbicides or pesticides. He will share his farming knowledge and how this can be applied to backyard gardeners. He is involved with the Community Shared Agreement (CSA) .
Thursday, July 23, 2026 : Judging for The Yard Competition
Judges from EKGC will go and check out members’ front yard and/or back yard. This is a great opportunity to show off your yard. It’s more of a sharing experience because at the Annual General Meeting in November there will be a slideshow of these beautiful yards. There will be information emailed out for the various categories. First timers are encouraged to participate. We would love to see what you’ve done. A garden is always a work in progress. There is also a photo contest where you take photos of your best flowers etc.
August: Special Tour (Date and Details to Be announced)
A road trip to a garden or farm is always worth it.
Tuesday, September 15, 2026 : Growing What’s Next-New Fruit and Landscape Plants For Your Yard: Valley Gardens Community Club, 218 Antrim Rd. 7 PM. Guest Speaker: Wilbert Ronald
Wilbert Ronald is the co-owner of Jeffries Nursery. They are a wholesaler that supplies trees, shrubs and perennials to garden centers in the Northern United States and in Canada. This a family run business since 1982 and the operation covers 400 acres of land near Portage La Prairie. They are heavily involved in research and development and have introduced 40 new varieties which are suitable for our climate area. We will learn about what is new and exciting for your future additions and how to care for these plants and trees.
Tuesday, October 13, 2026 : Edible and Medicinal Garden Weeds : Valley Gardens Community Club, 218 Antrim Rd. 7 PM. Guest Speaker: Laura Reeves
Laura Reeves from Prairie Shore Botanicals is a Botanist and the author of bestselling book “Laura Reeves’ Guide to Useful Plants from Acorns to Zoom Sticks”. This unique talk will have something for everyone.
Tuesday, November 10, 2026: Annual General Meeting and Potluck Dinner : Valley Gardens Community Club, 218 Antrim Rd. : 7:00 PM
It will be a time to share a potluck dinner with other members. You don’t have to bring anything, there is always food to share. No cost to members. We will take care of club responsibilities and then enjoy the photos from the yard competition and the photo contest. A nice way to finish off the gardening year.
