Mick Manfield is a Master Gardener. Mick is a talented and engaging speaker. His presentation on vertical gardening was enjoyed by all who attended. Mick was generous in providing a copy of his PowerPoint presentation. Members can access it using the password. Unfortunately, I didn’t take any notes, but his presentation showed the various types of vertical supports that you can use in a garden, which gains you more space to grow your vegetables, and he explained how you can grow heavy fruit on a vertical structure. Mick also does a presentation on square gardening. If you get a chance to see him, make the effort. Look him up on the internet. You can also find him spending time at the Beausejour Day Lilies Gardens. Mick’s planting mix formula is 1/3 Course Vermiculite, 1/3 Peat Moss and 1/3 Compost.
